Established in 2012, Smith Family Dojo is the only martial arts school that teaches traditional Okinawan Kenpo Karate & Kobudo in Hope Mills, NC. Sensei Kevin H. Smith is a 7th Degree Black Belt, Nanadan in Okinawa Kenpo Karate & Kobudo (weapons). He has been actively training for over 33 years and is a student of Hanshi Larry Isaac (10th Degree Black Belt, JuDan) of Jacksonville, North Carolina. Smith Family Dojo was initially started out of the Smith Family's garage, where Sensei trained his own children as well as other neighborhood children. They moved to their commercial location back in March of 2014. Sensei Smith’s primary goal is to develop future Black Belts; who are fit, both mentally and physically. Smith Family Dojo is not a "buy-a-belt" school. Rank is earned through hard work and dedication. Sensei Smith understands the importance of a good education, and always encourages his students to do and be their best! Smith Family Dojo promotes healthy living, teaches practical martial arts, and self-defense skills. They encourage a strong educational foundation and practice Christian family values.
